Gene Barton, CFP®

Gene Barton’s passion for financial planning began while completing his undergraduate studies in New York City. Inspired by the principles of sound financial management from the Dave Ramsey Show, he developed an interest in helping individuals take control of their financial futures. This led him to pursue a career dedicated to guiding clients toward financial stability and long-term success, and he has developed his own philosophies for wealth management.
Early in his career, Gene worked for an investment advisory firm, where he supported multiple regional offices and saw firsthand the value of strong client relationships. This experience solidified his focus on financial planning, allowing him to refine his skills in cash flow analysis, portfolio management, and holistic wealth strategies.
Today, at Spencer Financial, Gene helps clients navigate their financial lives by providing personalized cash flow analysis and portfolio projections. His goal is to empower individuals and families to live within their means while building sustainable, long-term wealth.
Gene graduated cum laude from New York University in 2019 with a degree in Economic Policy. He later expanded his expertise by completing coursework in financial planning, risk management, investments, taxation, and estate planning through Boston University. In 2022, he earned the Certified Financial Planner™ designation and is registered as a broker and investment advisor, having passed the Series 7 and Series 66 exams.
Outside of work, Gene enjoys cooking for his family and staying active. He also takes great pride in his vegetable garden, which he hopes to expand in the future—much like the financial well-being he helps his clients cultivate.
