Gene Barton, CFP®
Gene Barton’s interest in financial planning began while completing his undergraduate studies in New York City, where he became deeply interested in how thoughtful financial decision-making shapes long-term opportunity and security. What began as academic curiosity evolved into a professional commitment to helping individuals and families make clear, well-structured financial decisions.
Early in his career, Gene worked for an investment advisory firm supporting multiple regional offices. There, he saw firsthand the difference a coordinated financial strategy can make — not only in portfolio outcomes, but in client confidence. This experience strengthened his focus on cash flow analysis, retirement income strategy, portfolio construction, and long-term wealth coordination.
Today, at Spencer Financial, Gene works primarily with individuals and families preparing for or navigating retirement. He specializes in bringing structure to complex financial decisions by aligning income, investments, tax considerations, and long-term goals. His approach emphasizes careful analysis, steady decision-making, and practical implementation — helping clients move from uncertainty to clarity.
Gene graduated cum laude from New York University in 2019 with a degree in Economic Policy. He later completed advanced coursework in financial planning, risk management, investments, taxation, and estate planning through Boston University. In 2022, he earned the Certified Financial Planner™ designation and is registered with both a broker and investment advisor, having passed the Series 7 and Series 66 examinations.
Outside of work, Gene enjoys cooking for family and staying active. He also takes pride in maintaining a vegetable garden — a reminder that long-term results, in both finance and life, are built patiently over time.
